Mindgarden Volume II is a continuing reflection of life’s ultimate journeys by a poet who is not afraid to look candidly at some of the most troubling experiences humans encounter throughout their lifetimes. The second in the seven-volume Mindgarden series, Paul A. Galloway contemplates the human voyage through some of life’s most tragic events: the pain of the unexpected death of a loved one, the disappointment of broken promises, the fear of living in incarceration, and the sting of abandonment by those once trusted. Galloway openly shares the darkness of these times, the evil witnessed, the pain experienced, and the new hope leading to recovery. Galloway warns that “your thoughts, your deeds [are] all accountable” and encourages us to “catch the shadow of the past while you still can.” His poems illustrate that the injured human spirit can recover, leading to enlightenment, compassion, and forgiveness. In “The Love You Give,” Galloway says, “Our body is one/As our spirit is whole/Now it’s time to move on/To God’s loving arms’ hold.”

Within its own realm
It challenges balance
Integrity not a common factor
Yet one’s word the questionable law
Sunshine through the window
Reminds the ongoing timetable
Life goes on no matter what occurs
Noise, confusion, boredom
This haphazard playground’s evil
Seemingly enjoying itself
Existence a mere formality
As the moment quiets itself
The temporary stay lingers not
Yet the flame of the inferno
Torches the burning desire
That being the wanting of Hope

The Love You Give
Our body is one
As our spirit is whole
Until it’s time to move on
To God’s goal
The one that takes us into the afterlife
Some believe, some don’t
Others know when it’s their time
Even when their beliefs won’t
So enjoy life till its bitter end
Its sweetness surrounds us in every way
Love and smile to God’s greatness
His awesome wonders bless us each day
Let your spirit give to others
As our Lord has given to us
From whole heart to bone marrow
Always give with love and no fuss
For it’s the love you give
That’s equal to the love you make
Handing it out to good and bad
With a smile, no pretense or fakes

The Pond
Pillows of flower glisten
As the search of scent continues
Perfected beauty of petals floats upon the pond
As the long legged leapers jump to and fro
How consistent this magical world of creatures is
Where time has no meaning or concern
In a frame of mind where relaxation occurs
Dragonflies skim the moist surface of reflections
Mirroring what lies about, in awe of itself
One can see the immaculate reasoning to God’s play
Beneath the pond’s surface, priceless fish of gold rainbow about
Caring for themselves and welcoming all who encounter
As peace continues within these soft spoken surroundings
So continues the wonders of life within the pond
